Monday 9 June - Rocky Arbor

We slept fairly well, but a queen bed just isn’t a KING.

We had toasted bagels for breakfast and headed back to the Wisconsin Dells area.  We should have just camped over there…….  We went to the Rocky Arbor State Park just north of Wisconsin Dells.  We started our hike but doubled back because the mosquitoes were so bad.  We hiked the roads and toured the campgrounds.  It would be nice place to stay sometime.  The sites are all wooded and mostly private.  A lot of the sites had electricity but none of them had water.  The shower facility was very nice.
Walkin 'UP' the hill.....

It was very ‘hilly’ so we got a workout.  We doused ourselves with mosquito repellant and took the hiking trails back to the car.  We ended up hiking 4.3 miles.

We checked out the visitors information center in Wisconsin Dells but didn’t learn anything new.  We did do the ‘River Walk’ and walked on Main Street for some sight seeing.  It was another 1.75 miles.

We decided we needed some ‘reclining’ lawn chairs so we went shopping at Home Depot and Wal-Mart but didn’t find anything (except a cold 6 Pack).

We drove back to the camp ground and shared a hot shower (25 cents for 3 minutes, but together we got it done for 50 cents!)

We walked all around the campground.  It’s very large but more or less quiet during the week.  We are parked in the VIP #1 camp site!
Living like VIP's........

Steaks and wine for dinner.

Don’t have any plans for tomorrow yet, other than we’re leaving here and heading back towards home…….

First Camping Trip

First time taking our new Jayco Camper on a trip.  Left Plymouth at 11AM on 8 June and headed to Mirror Lake State Park near Baraboo, WI.  Arrived at the park about 1PM and hiked 5 miles.  Good hiking trail.  Looked around the camp grounds.  It may be a place to camp some other time.  Camping spots are in wooded areas and private.

Because we purchased the new camper we received a form for us to get 2 nights free at 5 different camp grounds.  Our first stay was at Pride of America Campgrounds in Pardeeville, WI.   When we arrived around 4 PM we were given a VIP camp sited  Rigth near the pool & store and showers.  Campground is nice but lots & lots of people.  Had lots of amenities for families.  We'd rather be in a state park but this was free for 2 nights.  Set, took shower in campground shower,   Our campsite has water, electricity and sewer.  Plan to like Devils Lake tomorrow.
