Trip Log to date

We left home last Wednesday, 25 March and drove to Naperville for an overnight visit with Erica and Matt.  On Thursday morning we drove to downtown Chicago to the beginning of Route 66.  Since we left home, we had driven 210 miles.  Here's a map of the first day:

Downtown Chicago to Chatham, Illinois - 211 Miles

On the second day, we entered Missouri through St. Louis, and stopped in Conway to visit cousins.
Chatham Illinois to Marshfield Missouri - 300 Miles  (It was 'almost' a run from a Springfield to a Springfield!)
The third day we travelled to a a suburb of Oklahoma City for an over night with Ellen's in-laws.
Marshfield Missouri to Edmond Oklahoma - 336 Miles
The fourth day we entered Texas.  Based on a recommendation from a friend, we decided to visit the Palo Dura State Park south of Amarillo.  It was worth it!
Edmond Oklahoma to Palo Dura State Park 321 Miles
The fifth day we spent several hours hiking the park.  In the afternoon we entered New Mexico and camped at Santa Rosa.
Palo Dura State Park in Texas to Santa Rosa New Mexico - 221 miles
The sixth day, we chose to follow the pre-1937 route that travelled up through Santa Fe.  The routes after 1937 pretty much followed the current I-40 Interstate through Albuquerque.
Santa Rosa New Mexico to Grants New Mexico - 292 Miles
