16 September 2014
We’re so close to the next time zone that the sun comes up
late according to our body clocks. We got
up and had our ‘Spartan’ breakfasts and then headed out for the hiking trail
that Ellen had seen on the map yesterday.
It was supposed to be a 4.2-mile hike with ‘moderate to steep
hills’. My GPS only showed 3.9 miles
but every hill was more than ‘steep’ and they were long. It made the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin
humble.
We got back to the camper, loaded up, took showers, and
headed out. We took the back roads of
the “Native American By-Ways” following the Missouri River up to Highway 44
where we’ll take it west tomorrow up toward the Bad Lands where whe’ll find a
place to stay tomorrow night.
Tonight we’re at the Snake Creek State Recreational Park
overlooking the Missouri River. It’s a
beautiful park, and we have it all to ourselves.
Tomorrow, we should make the “Bad Lands”.
