22 July 2014
Left home 11AM travelled to Hortonville and biked Wiouwash
State Trail. We did 6 miles out and back
for 12 miles total in 83 degrees. It
took us one and an half hours. It was a
good level trail with lots of shade.
We getter better at getting the bikes off the roof rack.
Left Hortonville at 2:30 and got to our campground at
Tilledo Falls at 3:30. Took us forever
to get the camper situated “perfectly”.
The A/C could not have been an option and saved our marriage.
Tilleda Falls Campground is quaint (AKA trailer trash?) We had to stay inside and start the cocktail
hour a little early……….
There is a wonderful stream and small waterfall but not much
else.
Drove to Bowling, WI Tuesday morning and caught the Mountain
Bay trail. Biked 4 miles out and then
got off bikes (butts sore) and hiked 3 miles round trip then back on bikes to car. Total about 2 ½ hours. 85 degrees and humid.
This afternoon said by camper watching stream, took little
nap, less humid with nice breeze.
Tomorrow we will head to Hartman Creek State Park near Waupaca for one more night of camping if
they have availability.
23 July 2014
Slept in until 8.
Took our time and packed double checking everything. Left at 10AM and stopped Waupaca for at least
two important food groups (Wine & Gin).
Arrived at Hartman Creek State Park around noon and found three
campsites with electricity still available.
We were set up within a half hour (boy are we finally getting good at
it!). We have a very large, secluded,
and wooded camp site. No water, but the
showers were close, clean and FREE.
We got the bikes down and did some of the trails until we
found that OUR bikes were not “mountain” enough so we did a short cut back to
the camper and traded the bikes for a back pack and hiking gear. We went back out did a chunk of the Ice Age
Trail (just like home). All and all we 5
miles on the bikes and 4 miles hiking.
Thankfully, we made it back to camp in time for cocktail
hour. We’ll have to have steak again……..
